Swim Level Selector
Level 1 – This class is designed for children who are new to swimming to help learn the basics. Children will adjust to the water at their own rate while having fun. They will be taught to float, blow bubbles, introduction to arm action front and back and being comfortable in the water.
Level 2 – This class is an instructional program for children with previous experience but may still have hesitancy in the water. Students will learn the basic swimming skills and focus on rotary breathing, backstroke, and independent freestyle. They will build more confidence in the water and deep end swimming introduced.
Level 3 – This class is for children who have already developed a high level of comfort in the water. Equipment will be used for more technical instruction as swimmers continue to refine freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will work on treading water, diving and breaststroke will be introduced.
Level 4 – This class is an advanced program for swimmers who have mastered the basics of freestyle, backstroke, diving, treading water and basics of breaststroke. Swimmers will continue to improve their endurance and refine technique.

ELIGIBILITY

WHO CAN JOIN?List Item 1
Any child that is a member of the club and who can pass a swim test. Test consists of swimming 25 yards without stopping and treading water.

HOW OLD MUST THE CHILD BE?List Item 2
At least 6 years old through high school.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?List Item 3
The child must be a member of the Boys & Girls Club. The membership fee is $25 a year. There is a minimal $125 non-refundable registration fee along with parent requirments. Total cost is $150 with additional parental requirements during the swim season.

WHAT ARE THE PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS?List Item 4
Swim team members must attend the scheduled practices for their age group and the required amount per age group.

WHEN ARE SWIM MEETS HELD?
Swim meets are scheduled on weekends.

DO PARENTS NEED TO ATTEND SWIM MEETS?
YES, parents are needed to preform certain dutites throughout the swim season and at swim meets. A minimum of 20 parents are needed for swim meets to run smoothly. Parents are required to assist at meets trhoughout the season, including home and away meets.
EXPECTATIONS
- School is very important, if you are absent from school, you cannot attend the BGC.
- Try your best to maintain a minimum of a C average. If for some reason you fall behind in school, you will be placed with a tutor at the designated practice time.
- Be prepared for practice, swim meets and special events by arriving on time with a positive attitude.
- If you are going to be tardy or miss practice or a meet you must notify the coaching staff in advance.
- Be respectful of coaches and teammates and practice good sportsmanship by encouraging and supporting teammates.
- Please keep the coaching staff informed and they will try their best to help in every way.
