The Boys & Girls Club of Fall River has received a $5,000 grant from St. Anne’s Credit Union for its Keystone Club making St. Anne’s Credit Union the first corporate sponsor of this youth leadership program.

“St. Anne’s Credit Union immediately recognized that the Keystone Club is the program that trains the future leaders of Fall River. These teens lead by example and this is a very effective way to encourage peers to maintain high standards of character, citizenship, health and education,” declared Peter McCarthy, executive director of the Club. “This grant will allow these teens to expand their activities like attending the national conference thus deepening their Keystone experience.”

Established in 1991, the Keystone Club operates from September to June with approximately thirty high school Club members. Keystoning is a teen-driven program that elects its own officers and implements activities that support three key areas: Community Service; Education; and Career Exploration. The Fall River Keystone Club is one of eight Gold Charter Members in Massachusetts.

After touring the Boys & Girls Club facility, St. Anne’s Credit Union President & CEO Ross R. Upton and CRA / Compliance Manager Tracy Paiva realized the importance the Keystone Club played in the continued success of the future leaders of the Fall River community and presented the idea of sponsoring the program to the Credit Union’s CRA Committee.

Ross R. Upton expressed the feelings of the Credit Union’s CRA Committee by stating, “As a community based credit union, St. Anne’s wants to ensure that the Fall River community continues to benefit from the success of their future community leaders. We feel that supporting the Keystone Club is a major step toward achieving that goal.”
